Summary: Young Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) has to lead a hard life: His parents have died in a car crash when he was still a baby, and he is being brought up by his Uncle Vernon (Richard Griffiths) and Aunt Petunia (Fiona Shaw). For some reason unbeknownst to the bespectacled ten-year-old, the Dursleys let him live in the small chamber under the stairs, and treat him more like vermin than like a family member. His fat cousin Dudley Harry Melling), the Dursley's real son, keeps bothering Harry all the time. On his eleventh birthday, Harry Potter finally receives a mysterious letter from a certain Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, telling him that he is chosen as one of the future students of that supposedly renowned school. Since he survived the attack as a baby, and also somehow deprived Voldemort from his powers, he has been famous in the wizarding world ever since. The Dursleys, strong disbelievers in that magical crap, never told Harry anything about his true self. So, Harry is strongly surprised, yet absolutely happy to start his training. At Hogwarts, Harry meets his teachers, and becomes friends with Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). The three of them accidentally find out that the potions master, Severus Snape (Alan Rickman), seems to plot on stealing something that is guarded by a three-headed dog. Since nobody would believe some first years to have found out such important things that even would incriminate a Hogwarts teacher, they take it on themselves to find out what Snape is up to. Their quest for the truth leads across many obstacles, from keeping up the everyday school life, a bewitched Quidditch match (Quidditch is a popular wizard sport), Fluffy, the three-headed monster dog, and quite some tasks one has to overcome to get to the guarded object

The journal he writes in contains all of the schemes, bets and his true feelings for the girl he likes. As he died, his journal is published as manuscripts showing the whole world with Cecile passing them around, finding out she was one of them. This prompted her to start a new life and vowing for her daughter to be innocent like how she was and to hope that nothing stands in the way of her future.

I've never read the book, didn't know it existed, this popped up on my Netflix account and I was thoroughly surprised!
I had to stop a little hour in, and I could not wait to get back to it and finish it. Not having had read the book- this was a fun, interesting movie to watch.

Alexandra Daddario can act and she really carries this movie, but the movie is just so depressing. Alexandra plays a woman hired to teach Japanese women learning to become flight attendants how to pronounce English words properly. It becomes clear that she has a drinking problem and several other problems, especially problems with men. She falls for an older gangster, but when things start going poorly, her life begins spiraling down hill fast and gets worse as the film goes on. Alexandra is believable as this woman who has essentially hit rock bottom. My problem is that the story and the main character are just so depressing and bleak. One last thing to note, if you are only watching this to see Alexandra naked you are going to leave disappointed.

I didn't really have any expectations other than shots of beautiful Japaneese aestethics which I got to some extent, even though I think that it felt a bit "touristy" and repeating at times.

As for the plot and acting I did not expect much. And except for the very first scene which I didn't like at all because it felt a bit cheesy and unnecessary seeing as you would understand what kind of girl Margaret was rather quickly by just watching the movie anyways. I hoped for more focus on the lost girl and less (but some) love hotels. One thing I liked about the many "love scenes" were that they were short and rather silent unlike some movies where there's awkward moaning for 10 minutes straight.

If you are looking for something as good as "Lost In Translation" or some block buster with explotions every other second you shouldn't watch this one. But if you want to look at some pretty cinematography with an okay story you should go for it! Especially if you like movies set in Japan. I can confidently say that I wouldn't have watched it if the movie had taken place anywhere else, but I'm glad that I did.
